Breaking news: our very own Japanese Correspondent, Tatsumi Hiroya, has been selected to work on a special video game project. Tatsumi will be providing English-to-Japanese translations and subtitles for Black Onyx Interactive’s new game Crackinho: Beat ‘em up in the World!
The game is based on the Brazilian super-hero of the same name. What surprised me the most, however, was that Crackinho was actually mentioned a couple of times in Crunch’s memoirs.
The first time was when Crunch had seen what he thought was a cereal box floating out at sea. As Crunch was not one to litter, he fished it out, only to discover it wasn’t a cereal box at all, but a living creature’ Crunch immediately performed CPR (Crunchatized Pulmonary Resuscitation), and revived the creature, thus saving its life.
The second, and latest I could find, was when Crunch delivered a shipment of crunchberries to São Paulo, and was reunited with Crackinho. Crunch then mentored the wannabe super-hero, teaching him the various fighting styles of the crunchlings.
But I digress.
This game is currently being crowdfunded on Kickstarter, and looking for backers!
Here is the synopsis for the game, as taken from their Kickstarter page:
“Join Crackinho in this sarcastic Beat’ em Up against crime throughout big cities at specific time eras all around the world!
Crackinho is inspired by classic 90’s Beat ’em up games like Streets of Rage, Final Fight, Battletoads, River City Ransom, among others.
Although inspired by theses games, ours is a fresh and modern take on this Genre. Crackinho Beat’ em Up is quite different, because besides the classic brawling, it adds a lot of special attacks and variations for the same strike.
The scenario was 100% made by us, the concepts, 3D models and textures. The traditional 2D animations, inspired by Cuphead, gives it a pinch of charm to the game.
We’re also planning to launch the multiplayer version and online co-op.
As you explore the game, you’ll unlock new features for customize the character
such as hats, clothes, toys, visual aspects and special attacks.
The more you go further the funnier it will become!”
If you’re interested, consider being one of the crunchy backers of this project! Tatsumi will certainly appreciate you supporting his hard work!
